We got some Painted Lady caterpillars in May, 2001, to help us celebrate Earth Day. Soon they changed into pupas, and then after a week or two, they hatched into beautiful butterflies! We put sugar water into the tank for them to drink. They have long curly black tongues!
Look at a butterfly life cycle slideshow!
We set them free near the woods on June 7.
One of the butterflies landed on Bree!
