When and where were you born?

How was your school different from our school now? How did you get to school?

We had better playgrounds to play on at recess. We had a better educational program with awards given often and fairly so evryone was includad. Every one was given help if they did not understand things. I walked to school. We had teachers-- you don't find many like that any more.

What chores did you do when you were in second grade? I had to have my room spotless.I had to dry dishes every day.Take garbage out each evening. Had to help with the laundry. Had to snap beans to can peelcarrots etc. for canning

What kind of clothes did you wear? Did your mother make your clothes? I wore dresses, skirts with blouses and sweaters. We wore long stockings in winter to stay warm. My Mom and Grandma made most of our clothes.What did toys and food cost when you were 7 or 8? We had home made toys food was cheap. We grew our own pigs and cows for meats. My Dad did hunting for deer, ellc, Pheasant duck and fished a lot.Did you ever earn money when you were in second grade? How? We never got any money for doing chores. We were just expected to do it. We had to do it every day.

Do you have any photographs we could scan for this report? We especially would love your childhood pictures? yes. Do I I have pictures? When I was a child and I have a treasure chest.

What kind of food did you eat? How much of your food did you grow? We had meat, potatoes vegetable salad and a dessert every night lunch time was good too good wholesome sandwhiches. and fruit .

What did children do for fun when you were my age? What games did you play? Tell about your favorite toy. We never had much time to play as us older ones had to do most of the chores when we got home from school. Then we had to do homework. Favorite toy was a rag doll. Grandma made it for me.

What happened when you were naughty? We got a good spanking and were sent to bed with no supper. Then we couldn't go any where for a full week.

What kind of house did you live in? Was it in town or in the country? I lived in a two story house with 5 bedrooms when I turned 11. Before that.I lived on a farm then moved to South Tacoma into a 2 bedroom house. We had 2 parents and 5 kids then. We nad moved to the town of south Tacoma from a farm.

What is the biggest change since you were a child ? Television big schools, a very cold uncaring people nowadays. People into much of a rush-- big freeways. Too much automation that makes people lazy and not doing much.
