MY OLDEN DAYS REPORT

The olden days were not the same. People did not have cars,they had buggys.They did not ride a bus to school.they had to make their own food. They had different stoves.

My grandpa Al was born in the St.Joe's hospital,1941.he lived on Vashon island,

He went to a school that was wooden with 3 (three) floors.He rode on a bus to school. .They bought his clothes at the store.Had to bring firewood in to heat up the house,the bath,he split the wood in the summer. he had a big garden,he grew beef & pork & chickhen,corn,vegtables & patatoes.He had a dusty old field for a playground & and he played baseball,football and basketball.At home he got spanked. At school he got sent to the principal.

 

He lived in the country in an old wooden house.When my grandpa was a child there were no computers. The grocers had to deliver his dad's car to deliver groceries. He had an allowance that would be 10 ¢ a week.

When and where were you born? Grandpa Howard was born August,1917,nearltoopole,Il How was your school different from our school? Howard went to a 1 room schoolhuse. In the Winter,Through 8th grade ,+/- 20 kids.

Grandpa Al says Uncle bill never brought his school papers home. He hid the papers from school. He hid them in the drain pipe in the road.

Do you have a short storie/anecdote that kids my age might enjoy? Grandpa Howard's mom put Grandpa Howard in the buggy she tried to climb in ,but the horse got scared & ran 4 miles thruogh the woods, but the neighborman caught the horse and saved the baby.

The olden days didn't have tgechnology or computers. I'm glad I live in the "new" days!

 

   The victrolla was bought by Howard & given to his mother.
