Gene: He was born July 3 1941 in Tacoma, Washington. He walked to school everyday and had no computers. His chores were to wash and dry the dishes. His mother did not make his clothes. He wore dress shirt and slacks and shirts when he was in school. Candy bars only cost 5 cents and he liked penny candy that cost one cent. He erned mony by colecting bottles and pop cans and then he recicled than for money. For fun they made forts in old bomb shelters and in school they had bomb drills like we had fire drills.

His meals were mostly meat and potatoes and they did not grow there own food. For fun they played cars and cap guns and cowboy and Indien. On special occasions he played card games with his parents and listened to music. When he was naughty he got spanked with a leather belt.
He lived in a tempury trailer where his dad worked and slept in a shack next to a trielr where there parents lived in.
The biggest change since he was a child? TV, computers, cell phonse, video games. I have a school picture of my grandpa's first grade class and his report card for second grade. They are pretty old.

I think it would be cool to live when my grandpa was a boy because candy only cost five cents or a penny!
