When and where were you born?

July 14, 1938. Tacoma, WA. [at home]

How was your school different from our school now? How did you get to school?

Back then we didn't have computers. no busees to bring kids to school that lived far from the school. 6th grade students were the crossing guards walked, or rode a bike.

What chores did you do when you were in second grade?

My papa didn't have a dish washer his chore was to wash and dry dishes by hand.

What kind of clothes did you wear? Did your mother make your clothes? My papas mom made the shirts. No jeans to school. What did toys and foods cost when you were 7 or 8?

Most toys cost less then a doler Bread cost less then a quarter.

Did you ever earn money when you were in second grade? how?

Pape sold yosd pop bottles for two or five cents and he mowed lawns for thirty five cents.

Do you have a story or anecdote that kids my age might enjoy?

Some kids in the neighborhood belonged to a dare devil club. They had to go down a huge dirt hill in a card board box or on a bike.Only one kid could go down the dirt hill so no one wanted to be in the club What kind of food did you eat? How much of your food did you gow?

My papa ate black eyed peas and red beans and rice.

They grew raspberries, strawberries, and green beans

What did children do for fun when you were my age? What games did you play? Tell about your favorite toy.

My papa played hide and seek and kick the can and cowboys and Indians, and his favorit toy was a little toy car.

What happend when you were naughty?

My papa got a spanking with a switch or a time out.

What kind of house did you live in? Was it in town or in the country?

My papa lived in a two story house in town.

What is the biggest change since you were a child?

Computers and all they can do,
