In Room 18, we like to learn math in many different ways. Every month we make quilts to study and observe patterns.
All year long we study estimation,
and since our teacher knows that we love to eat, we use foods to do our
estimating. We have used animal crackers, peanuts, and oyster crackers to
help us learn this skill. Here's our oyster cracker jar and our estimates.
Each time we eat some crackers, we calculate how many crackers we will use if we all eat 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, or 7 apiece. (We want to try 10 apiece because it is so easy and we are always hungry, but our teacher says no.)
