Our Field Trip to Northwest Trek
April 24, 1997

We all crowded onto buses to ride to Northwest Trek, which is near Eatonville. We had some moms and dads along to help us on the field trip. We left at 9:30 AM.

We had to wait forever for the tram to come. We had to stand up because there weren't enough seats.
It was worth the wait though, because we got more time to look at animals. The tram ride was cool because a mountain sheep ewe (that's a female sheep) followed us most of the way. We think she was begging for food.

We saw a pack of wolves. They were playing with each other. There was an electrified fence so they could not attack anybody. The kids were howling but the wolves weren't.

There were a lot of bees here in the Cheney Interpretive Center. They were behind glass, and they had a little tube to go outside. There was a speaker on the wall so we could hear them.

They made a buzzing sound. We even saw the queen bee!

Sean and Jacob found a new friend! He is bony and he would not talk to us. But Sean got a sort of a hug from him.

David and Alexander used a mystery box. You had to match the fur with the pictures on the top of the box. It was kind of hard.

There were stuffed ducks that we could touch. They felt wierd.

We did not want to pet this guy! He was way up on the wall where no one could get the quills stuck in their fingers.

Ashley and Rachel liked the bear in the Cheney Center. It's a good thing it wasn't alive, or Rachel would have lost some fingers!

After the field trip we were all tired. Nicholas was not tired but he fell asleep anyway on the way back to school. Mrs. Smith almost fell asleep too, but Michael kept her awake by talking to her.

We are ready to go back anytime!
