The Problem
of the Cat and the Robin

Bruno, the Cat

Bruno is a 16 year old cat, who has been part of the Smith family since he was a kitten. He likes to hunt mice, shrews, and sometimes, birds. He cannot be kept inside all the time because he goes outside to take care of his toilet needs.

The Mother Robin

Mother Robin was foolish enough to build a nest just a few feet from the Smith family's front door. The nest is on top of a 4 foot plant stand, right next to a ceramic duck planter. There is also a male robin who stays in the trees and squawks at the cat and the people.

The Problem

The mother robin has laid two eggs in the nest. Right now, the cat does not pay too much attention to the robin because she is very quiet and still, but when baby birds hatch, they will make a lot of noise. The cat may try to get the baby birds.

How can we protect them if and when they hatch?

How can the we keep the cat from getting the parents when they are feeding the babies?
