The Giant Panda

The Giant Panda lives in China. Its science name is Daxiong Mao , which means large bear cat not belonging to the bear family.

Pandas like to be alone, It has four legs but very bad eyesight. The Panda is a plant eater and eats the young leaves of bamboo plant. The mother Panda gives birth to a baby Panda in a cave or a hollow tree. The baby Panda weighs 3 1/2 ounces and six inches when it is born live and is only six inches long. It feeds on his moms milk until it is 7 months then he starts eating leaves. He will leave his mom when he is 1 1/2 years old and will live by himself. His mother taught him how to live in the wild. The Panda lives in the wild. The Panda lives in the forest in China and when there is danger he will climb up a tree to get away the Panda may live as long as thirty years and weigh as much as 20 pounds.The Panda has a thick coat and very string claws. The Panda is a rare animal because there are not to many of them . So we need to protect them so our children will know what a Panda is.
