My Poem

My report is on raccoons. Raccoons are gray, they leave a fluffy tale with four to seven rings of the dark fur. They weigh seven to twenty pounds. Raccoons measure 24-37 inches long.

The raccoons habitat is along streams , swamps and marshes. Some live in woodlands. These raccoons wander onto the garden at night.

Raccoons are called omnivores. Because they eat plants and animals. Raccoons are also predators. They will eat frogs, crayfish, bird eggs, also seeds, fruits, nuts, and corn. Raccoons are nocturnal, this means they are active at night. They use their paws with great skill. They handle their food and dip it into water. Baby raccoons can be tamed but are messy pets. They can open the refrigerator. Raccoons are good climbers also good swimmers.

Raccoons are found in North America. They live in the United States except in the desert and mountains ranges. They also live in parts of Mexico and Southern Canada. A raccoon is a mammal.

They have babies in the spring they are called kits. They are born in a hollow tree and weigh two ounces. Raccoons live to be 5-15 years old.
