Naches Trail Salmon Project

Each year, Naches Trail students are able to watch salmon eggs hatch and develop into salmon large enough to be released into nearby Clover Creek. A large refrigerated aquarium in the library is the focus of much attention when the eggs begin to hatch and the little alevins swim about.

This project is initiated and maintained by librarian, Dave Cook. He supervises as sixth graders monitor feeding, temperature and growth of the salmon fry. They are then allowed to release the little salmon into the creek when they are large enough to survive in the wild.
