Ice Cream with the Principal

This is a program to reward responsible behavior outside the classroom. Students are given tickets when they are "caught" being good citizens on the playground and in the lunchroom. Every month a ticket is drawn from those accumulated at each grade level, and those students get ice cream with Mr. Shadle, our principal. These students also get a certificate and their names in the school newsletter, along with all the others in the drawing that month.

Social Worker

Naches Trail has a full-time counselor/social worker, Mrs. Thomas. She works with individuals in crisis, and with individuals and groups to promote good social skills, good friendships, and responsible behavior. She helps teachers with discipline problems and sits on a team which reviews referrals for special services.
Our school could never function smoothly without Mrs. Thomas's help!

Conflict Managers

Mrs. Thomas trains a group of intermediate students each year to be conflict managers on the playground during primary and intermediate recesses. These students are taught how to defuse angry confrontations and to remind students of their options when they are in conflict. They are also taught when to go for adult help from playground supervisors when situations are beyond their powers to resolve.

Multicultural

Naches Trail has a diverse student population. We consider that an asset and try to show our students how to value the richness of the cultural heritages represented in our student body and community. About every other year we have a multicultural fair. And we have multicultural assemblies several times a year.

Student Council

Student Council is made up of representatives elected by classmates from each classroom in grades 4-6. They discuss and help make school rules, as well as helping decide on ASB fund disbursements. This group meets monthly, and student representatives report to all classes to keep them informed.

Crossing Guards

This is a group of 5th and 6th graders who assist an adult crossing guard in helping children safely cross the main intersection by our school each morning.
