| Our school has a forested site of approximately 10 acres where a nature trail has been built for the education and enjoyment of our students. | |
| Groups of children often walk through the trails to observe and learn from the changing seasons and animal life in our little forest. Most of us think that this forest is very beautiful. | |

There are both forest and meadow areas on our nature trail |

There are several old-growth trees on the property. The largest one is called, by many of the children, "The grandfather tree." Here you see only the top and bottom of the tree, and have to imagine the other half of the trunk. This trunk is so big at the bottom that it takes about 20 children to circle it. |
| Many birds and small animals make their homes here, although most hide when a class of students makes its noisy way along the trail. | |
| |
Recent winter storms have uprooted or broken trunks and branches of many of the trees and bushes. Children learn to look for evidence of such past storms in the fallen and partially decayed trees on the forest floor. |
| When we can look through the fence and see our school, we know that we are nearly back at Naches Trail. | |
